WC in Yokohama in Japan

30th April 2009

After a long time with hard and good training it is so nice to finally play at the WC.
I am very satisfied with my victories today. First I meet Li Jin Kwon from Korea, he has a great talent and placed many of his balls with a great deal of angle, but I won 4-0 - I played flawless - but this evening it was more difficult. I meet Chiang Hung Chieh, Chinese Taiwan 13-11 7-11 11-5  11-5 11-7 and I was lucky when I won the first set but unfortunately I lost the second one. My serves was good but I have also been practicing very hard in hitting the ball faster, and that succeeded today.  The first matches in a tournament are always difficult, but I can only be satisfied of my effort. All matches at WC are difficult, but now I am between the best 32 in the world after a good day.
Everything is fine here in Japan. I will now relax and prepare myself for my game tomorrow with Andrei Gacina from Croatia.

Hi,

WC ended with a defeat to Ma Long in the quarter final. Even though I lost the match 4 games to 0 - it was an equal fight with many chances which I unfortunately did not take advantage of. In the first set I was leading 5-1 and 9-7, second set 10 all and in the fourth set was leading 9-5 but yet I lost all the sets. At the present I see Ma Long as the world’s number 1 table tennis player and when you do not use the chances you get against a world class player – you lose.

To lose a match just before receiving a medal is not easy – especially when I had the opportunities to win, but generally I am very pleased with my play and the level of my performances. I have worked very hard up till this WC and I will keep on doing that so good results will continue to come in the future.

WC in Yokohama has been a very positive experience, a great event with amazing scenery and very nice and polite people. It is always a pleasure to come to Japan.

On Thursday I play finale in the Danish Championship for my club Roskilde against Køge, so I hope we see each other in Roskilde Hallen.

Thank you for your support and nice comments here on my website.
