Michael Maze no. 8 in the world - highest ranking ever
Denmark’s Michael Maze, the winner of the Men’s Singles title at the recent Liebherr European Championships in the German city of Stuttgart and unbeaten throughout the team event, has climbed to new heights on the global scene.
The new high follows the publication of the Men’s World Ranking list by the International Table Tennis Federation on Thursday 1st October 2009. Previously, the talented left hander was listed as no.12, now he appears at no.8; thus moving 3 steps higher than his previous best ever world ranking.
Earlier in 2009
Earlier this year in May, he clinched to no.11 following his quarter-final appearance in the Men’s Singles event at the H.I.S. World Championships in Yokohama and maintained that position in June.
Also occupying a career high place on the newly issued listings is China’s Hao Shuai; he progresses from no.7 to no.6.
ITTF Pro Tour
It is gradual progress for the talented left hander, who has experienced moments of utter despair but Michael Maze has been the most consistent on the ITTF Pro Tour in 2009.
He won the Men’s Singles title in the opening tournament of the year, the Slovenian Open, whilst in Qatar he was a semi-finalist and the runner up in both China and Korea.
Comments:
You just a point lower than No 9,and 10 points lower than No 8. Maybe next month your ranking will be higher!
Stay training on your footwork, its better now then ever before!
You got the most powerfull forehand in Europe, you're the best at the moment.
Who are gonna play against in the China-Europe Challenge?
Good luck!!
Though I'm not a big fan of your big ego and moody behavior, I wanted to say congrats for your title and new ranking. I always like to see hard work rewarded, next step is to add some class to it with a real gentleman's behavior on the court, just like Samsonov's.
All the best
Congratulations to your highest world ranking ever.. I'm sure that your ranking next month will be higher.. you are the best!!! ;)
