GREAT WIN FOR MICHAEL MAZE
Reigning European Champion Michael Maze of Denmark won a fantastic duel against triple World Champion Wang Liqin of China in the prestigious tournament ‘Asia vs. Europe' in Beijing.
In grueling five games encounter, cheered by the enthusiastic European bench, Maze showed breathtaking performance to overcome Wang. Wang prevailed in the opening game, but Maze leveled the meters in the next one.
The real battle started in third part of the match when Maze took the lead. In the fourth, drama reached higher level. Maze had a constant lead, but the Chinese star saved the match ball to level at 10:10. Wang Liqin won the set with one of the most beautiful points in the match. In the decisive game Maze had advantage once again, but Wang leveled at 8:8.
The Chinese player saved Maze's second match point at 10:9 and when it looked like Wang's experience would prevail once again Maze sealed the match with two fantastic points.

"I have now played many times against the best Chinese and I feel that I am getting closer and that I can beat them. Wang Liqin is the best table tennis player and has been the best during the last 10 years and I am very proud of this prestigious victory" said a very satisfied Michael Maze after the match. He continued: "There is a really good atmosphere in our team and the team spirit is very positive. I am glad that I was able to contribute with the victory".
